By definition, “pterygoid implants” is the insertion to the posterior bone of the maxilla (the tuberosity), attached to the pterygoid plate. However, it is not necessarily in all cases that the implant is attached to the pterygoid plate but in the anterior position of the pterygoid-maxillary region, parallel to the posterior wall of the maxillary sinus.

Every year, at the end of each year, Department of Health of Vietnam conducts an audit of all hospitals to ensure these hospitals meet the 83 hospital standards issued by the Department (these standards are similar to the standards issued by the Joint Commission International Accreditation). In Ho Chi Minh city, which is where our hospital is located, there is a total of 102 hospitals. Amy Tran was originally born and raised in Vietnam. At the age of 16, she moved to the US to gain an American education and work for some of the best companies in the world. She graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Santa Clara University, in the heart of Silicon Valley, California. Upon graduating, she was hired as an auditor at Deloitte & Touche, which is the largest professional services firm in the world. She worked at Deloitte for 10 years, being promoted rapidly, leaving as a senior manager on her way to becoming a partner/managing director. She put her career on hold however, at the request of her parents, moving back home to help manage the hospital in October 2018.

Amy is the perfect candidate for the job. Her bilingual background, and familiarity with both Vietnamese and American culture allows her to connect well with both Vietnamese and international clients. She has personally experienced the high quality of American healthcare standards for years and vows to have Worldwide Dental & Plastic Surgery Hospital follow the same standards of being well-organized, safe, effective, caring, and most importantly, always putting the customer first.

Although managing a hospital is a new field, Amy’s experiences as an auditor in Silicon Valley gave her many insights on how to run a business. At Deloitte, Amy served all types of companies from start-ups to big public companies. She was involved in multiple initial public offerings and has seen companies grow from less than 50 employees to thousands. She identified key attributes of those companies which drove them towards success: strong management & company mission, efficient yet thorough processes, respect and accountability between all levels of the business.
