WHAT ARE ALL-ON-4 AND ALL-ON-6?

All-on-4 and All-on-6 are the latest techniques used to restore all lost teeth on one jaw with 4 or 6 implants. With All-on-4 and All-on-6, doctor will place 4-6 implants per jaw for the patient, depending on individual condition. After implant placement, a permanent denture with 10-12 teeth will be place fixed on implants. This helps reduce the number of implants required, hence reducing the cost of treatment, while still maintaining chewing function and aesthetic feature.

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR ALL-ON-4 AND ALL-ON-6?

  • Edentulous patients (patients who have loss all or most of their teeth).
  • Patients with severe periodontal disease, causing teeth to loosen or leading to tooth loss
Patients who have experienced bone loss
  • Patients with adequate bone to support 4 to 6 implants

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ALL-ON-4 AND ALL-ON-6?

All on 4 is more suitable for patients who don’t have adequate bone in the back teeth area to support additional implants. It is the most cost-conscious solution for edentulous patients.

All on 6 is the most optimal solution for patients who have adequate bone in the back teeth area, or patients with softer bone density which requires more implants to support the denture. All on 6 is also suitable for younger patients as All on 6 has more implants and therefore provide stronger chewing functionality.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR ALL-ON-4 AND ALL-ON-6?

Step 1: includes the placement of the implants and installment of the temporary denture on these implants. Step 1 should take 3-4 days with a final check up on day 10thth or 12th depending on patient’s healing process.

Appointment 1: Take CT Cone Beam x-rays and perform general examination to clearly determine patient’s oral health and bone conditions. Our technician will design the placement of implants using Nobel Clinician Implant software based on the 3D xray. This step will determine whether patient has adequate bone to support the implants, if bone graft or sinus lift is required, and the number of implants needed to be placed.

Appointment 2: Surgery day. To provide patients with maximum comfort, sedation or general anesthesia is recommended. Morning of the operation, blood test and general health examination will be performed to determine whether patients’ health is fit for surgery. Each implant will take approximately 15 minutes to place, additional time will be needed if bone graft or sinus lift procedures are involved. After the surgery, doctor will take impression for our dental lab to start making the temporary denture.

Appointment 3&4: Wax-up, bite registration, try on denture. Adjustments are made directly by our doctor and lab technician to ensure best fit. Patient will have fixed temporary denture within 3 days from surgery.

Appointment 5: Place the temporary denture fixed on implants. Make adjustments as necessary. After appointment 4, patient has a week to travel and come back for final check-up.

Appointment 6: Final check-up to remove the stitches, tighten the denture and ensure patient is comfortable with the fixed temporary denture. Patient will wait 6-8 months to allow the implants to fully integrate and bond with the surrounding bone in the jaw.

Step 2 (6-8 months later): Install the permanent denture on implants. On average, each case requires approximately 10-12 days.

Appointment 1:  Take CT Cone Beam X-rays and perform general examination to check the conditions of the implants and the overall oral health. Take impression for study cast to fabricate the permanent denture.

Appointment 2: Bite registration

Appointment 3: Teeth try-in. Patient will have to wait 1 day for in-house dental lab to fabricate the framework.

Appointment 4: Framework try-in. Patient will have to wait 2 days for in-house dental lab to fabricate the permanent denture.

Appointment 5: Install permanent denture on implants and make adjustments. Patient has 2 days to travel and come back for final check-up.

Appointment 6: Re-examination and final check-up.

It is recommended patients have re-examination every 6 months, either at our hospital or with any local implant specialist.
