A dental crown is a tooth-like cap placed over a tooth to restore its original shape, appearance, and functionality. It is used for severe cases of chipped, broken, eroded, tilted, or discoloured teeth.

For extreme cases of tilted/broken/eroded teeth, a root canal treatment may be required prior to the placement of cosmetic porcelain dental crowns.

A dental bridge is used to replace missing teeth. They are typically attached to the adjacent teeth next to the missing tooth (also called abutment teeth). These replacements are either permanently attached (fixed), or removable.
Fixed types of bridges are applied by either placing a covering on the abutment teeth or by bonding the artificial teeth directly to the abutment teeth.
Removable replacements, on the other hand, are attached to the teeth with metal clasps or precision attachments.

When visiting the dental crown specialists at Dr Hung & Associates, the overall cost for the procedure would depend on if you’re replacing a tooth or a full set of teeth. We take pride in being the Vietnam dentistry experts that more patients trust.

  • Broken/chipped tooth that can’t be restored by filling, veneer, inlay/onlay
  • Tooth with a big amalgam filling that needs to be replaced
  • Badly discoloured teeth due to tetracycline
  • Tooth that has worn out considerably, could be due to grinding
  • To protect a tooth that is likely to break due to weakness or injury
  • Damaged tooth that has already had root canal treatment
  • Tooth with unpleasant colour or shape

A laminate or porcelain dental veneer is a thin layer of laminate/porcelain (0.3 to 0.5 mm) that is placed on the outer surface of a tooth, helping to achieve a desired aesthetic.

Veneers do not require as much grinding as dental crowns and bridges, therefore you might not require root canal treatment and could keep as much of your real teeth as possible.

Discoloured or cracked teeth that are not too severe.

Small teeth, teeth with some small gaps in between

Other minor abnormal defects of the teeth
Suitable cases for porcelain veneers

When it comes to choosing between your options, it really depends on the type of condition your teeth are in, and what sort of results you’re looking to gain.
Typically, porcelain crowns are much more regularly used for patients who present with extreme circumstances, cracked, or excessively worn teeth. For those looking for more cosmetic improvements, veneers are more popular as they are a less-invasive treatment.

The treatment time and dental crown price will depend on how many caps need to be placed on top of the tooth. On average, restoration for the whole jaw (8-10 crowns) requires approximately 5-7 days, including 4-5 appointments.

Appointment 1: Perform general examination, take CT Cone Beam X-ray, perform a digital scan, and take pictures. The doctor will discuss with the patient and design the most ideal smile using our 3Shape scanner software so that the patient can see it all come to life.
The doctor will then come up with a treatment plan. Your teeth will be checked carefully to identify and eliminate all potential risks.

If any pre-procedures need to be performed such as teeth cleaning, root canal treatment, etc., they will be conducted at this appointment.

Appointment 2: The doctor will guide the patient through the colour and shape selection process, then prepare teeth for the procedure and take an impression for the study cast.

The dental crown specialist will then place a temporary covering on the teeth to reduce sensitivity. The temporary covering is only for aesthetic reasons and not for chewing.

The patient will then wait 2-3 days for our in-house laboratory to make the porcelain crowns.

Appointment 3:Appointment 3: This is usually the try-in and installation appointment. A Specialist will check for proper bite trajectory and make adjustments as necessary.
