ALL ON 4 AND ALL ON 6 DENTAL IMPLANTS

1. WHAT ARE ALL ON 4 AND ALL-ON-6 DENTAL IMPLANTS?

All on 4 and All on 6 are the techniques used to restore every single one of your missing teeth on one jaw with 4 or 6 replacements. With the help of these procedures, the number of restored teeth is 10-12 teeth per jaw. This reduces the number of dental implants required, hence reducing the cost of treatment, while still maintaining chewing function and aesthetic features.

With this treatment, the doctor will place 4 to 6 inserts per jaw for the patient, depending on the individual condition. The prosthesis will then be attached to the implants. Once the dental restoration is in place it is functional and comfortable as well as attractive.

2. WHICH CASES ARE SUITABLE FOR THESE PROCEDURES?

  • Complete edentulous arch
  • Bone loss
  • The patient wants to have the function and aesthetic similar to real teeth
  • Stable health condition (Doctor will examine your general health to ensure you are fit for surgery)
  • Sufficient bone for implant placement (inadequate cases may require pre-operative bone graft surgery or simultaneous bone grafting during placement).

Cases with missing teeth on one or both jaws are suitable for All On 4 or all on 6 dental implants

3. WHAT ARE THE PROS AND CONS?

Pros:

Good functionality
High aesthetic
Easy to fix
Up to lifetime warranty (Depending on implant brand)

Cons:

Higher cost
Require special equipment/tool to clean
Require 2 stages of treatment with 6 to 8 months (or even 1 year) apart depending on each case.

4. COMPARE BOTH PROCEDURES

All On 4 is indicated when there is not enough bone in the back teeth to place additional implants. This is the option with the most reasonable cost.
All On 6 is indicated when patient has adequate bone. This procedure tends to have better functionality as more implants provide more support for teeth

5. WHAT IS THE STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS FOR THE PROCEDURE?

Step 1: On average, each case requires approximately 14-15 days, including 4-5 appointments and one check-up.
1. Taking X-rays and general examination
2. Dental implant placement surgery (with teeth removal and bone graft if needed) in one appointment
3. Take impression for a temporary prosthesis
4. Install the temporary prosthesis and make adjustment (if needed) in several appointments
5. Final check-up

Step 2 (6 – 8 months later): On average, each case requires approximately 10 days with 4-5 appointments.
1. Take CT Cone Beam X-rays and examine the implants
2. Take an impression for the study cast
3. Install permanent prosthesis and make adjustment (2-3 appointments)
4. Re-examination and final check-up

It is recommended that patients have a checkup every 6 months, either at our dental centre or with any local dentist that’s specialized in implants.
